STANDARD AWAKE EEG

To ensure the EEG test results are reliable and can be correctly interpreted, please follow the guidelines below:

1. Scalp Hygiene

  • Wash your hair the day before or on the day of the test.

  • Do not use any hair styling products (such as hairspray, gels, mousses, oils, or conditioners).

  • Hair (scalp) should be clean and dry.

2. Rest

Arrive well-rested for the test.

3. Medications

Do not stop taking any medications without prior consultation with your doctor.

Please inform the staff about all medications you are taking, especially those affecting the nervous system.

4. Health Condition

A low-grade fever, high fever, or antibiotic treatment is a contraindication for the test.

The test can be performed at least 7 days after the last dose of oral antibiotics.

5. Caffeine and Substances

On the day of the test, do not consume coffee, strong tea, energy drinks, or alcohol.

6. Meal

Eat a light meal before the test.

Do not come for the test on an empty stomach.

7. Documents

Bring the following to the test:

  • An identity document

  • A referral (if applicable)

  • Relevant medical documentation (e.g., previous EEG results, list of medications, brain imaging studies)

SLEEP DEPRIVATION EEG

To ensure the EEG test results are reliable and can be correctly interpreted, please follow the guidelines below:

1. Scalp Hygiene

  • Wash your hair the day before or on the day of the test.

  • Do not use any hair styling products (such as hairspray, gels, mousses, oils, or conditioners).

  • Hair (scalp) should be clean and dry.

2. Sleep deprivation

The day before the test, do not sleep from 6:00 PM until the time of the test!!! A nap is allowed but must end by 6:00 PM. 

3. Medications

Do not stop taking any medications without prior consultation with your doctor.

Please inform the staff about all medications you are taking, especially those affecting the nervous system.

4. Health Condition

A low-grade fever, high fever, or antibiotic treatment is a contraindication for the test.

The test can be performed at least 7 days after the last dose of oral antibiotics.

SLEEP EEG - CHILDREN

EEG During Sleep allows a more accurate assessment of the child’s brain bioelectrical activity, which is especially helpful in diagnosing neurological disorders such as epilepsy, sleep disorders, or developmental delays.

To ensure the EEG during sleep results are reliable and can be correctly interpreted, please follow the guidelines below:

1. Scalp Hygiene

Wash the child’s hair the day before or on the day of the test.

Do not use any cosmetics on the scalp or hair (oils, creams, conditioners, gels).

Hair (scalp) should be clean and dry.

2. Sleepiness is Important!

  • Infants and young children: Skip the last nap before the test and make sure they do not fall asleep on the way to the test!

  • Older children: Wake them up 2 hours earlier than usual on the test day and do not allow them to sleep during the day. Make sure they do not fall asleep on the way to the test!

3. Medications

Do not stop any medications without prior consultation with a doctor.

Please inform the staff about all medications, especially those affecting the nervous system.

Do not give the child any sleeping pills!

4. Health Condition

Low-grade fever, fever, and antibiotic treatment are contraindications for the test.

Vaccinations – it is best to wait 3 weeks after vaccination before the test.

5. Meal

Give the child a light meal at home before the test.

Do not come for the test on an empty stomach.

On the day of the test, do not give the child stimulants such as tea, sweets, or sugary drinks.

6. What to Bring

Please bring to the test:

  • Identity document

  • Relevant medical documentation (e.g., previous EEG results, medication list, brain imaging studies)

  • Comfortable clothing – it’s best to dress the child in pajamas

  • Favorite teddy bear, blanket, small pillow, water bottle, snacks (bedding is provided on-site – bring only familiar items for the child’s psychological comfort)
